Water And Ice Dispenser Over Runs On Model Lsc27910tt Refridgerator

Sometimes my ice maker will continue to dispense ice after removing my glass and releasing the activation lever. On occasion the unit will also keep dispensing water after the lever has been released. When this happens how can it be stopped before the floor is covered in ice cubes? Or, the floor is soaked with water?
