Ice Maker And Ice Water Unit Not Functioning. I'm Getting The Er If Message.
The ice maker is not working. However, every so often the error message disappears and I can get cold water but it doesn't stay in that mode long enough to get ice. In addition, when it will provide the water, none of the other normal icons on the display are visible, it's just blank.I've looked at some of the videos for replacing the fan and motor behind the freezer comparment. None show my exact model which has (2) drawers plus the big basket at the bottom. The LG guy said based on my Serial number: 109KRNM28095, I need Part # 5901JA1021A. When I Google that P/N, it looks like just the fan blades but without the motor. A previous online help company said I need P/N 5209JA1044A that is clearly a blower housing with the motor. Up to this point, I've hoped I could get a better confirmation so if I have to replace the blower/motor, I don't have to disassemble just to see which part I need and then reassemble until I get the part and then go thru the whole process again!Lastly, I saw one video that a user just unpluged the unit for about 8 hours and apparently the fan motor that takes cold air from the freezer and blows it up into the ice maker in the left-hand door, was frozen. What do you recommend? I do notice that when I open that door leaf, there is very little air flow from either of the small grilles in the door jamb. We have another fridge down the basement so I can probably move much of the frozen items down there or put it outside as it's in the 20s and 30s right now. If I don't open the fridge door, will the food stay cold enough until the fan defrosts? I'm not sure I have enough room to put our entire cold food in the one down the basement?Lastly, could I speed things up by blowing hot air wioth a hair dryer through those grilles that must have ductwork back to the blower in the freezer?
