Dishwasher Won't Clean Dishes.

What happened to my dishwasher? First, no water seemed to be coming out of the upper arm, leaving dried soft drinks in glasses, for example, showing that no rinse water ever reached these places. Now things on the lower shelves are not coming clean.  The KitchenAid website is no help at all.  The instructions for cleaning the filter do not apply to this model.
