Can Gas Cooktop Kfgu766vss Able Be Lighted By Lighter When Electricity Go Out?

One sale man told me that KFGU766VSS can not be lighted when electricity goes out.  Is this true?   Will any other model of KitchenAid gas cooktop work?   Tks, Debbie
