1) Where Do I Find The Serial Number? 2) Over Temperature Light

2) I had my frig/freezer turned off for 4 months while I was away. I had turned it off by pushing the off the "ON/OFF' cooling button on the top panel. When I returned home I pushed the on botton on this same "ON/OFF" cooling and set the temperature to 37 ferenheit for the frig and 0 ferenheit for the freezer. The red light for "over temperature" came on and the temperatures kept changing ( I think it was to the room temperature). The frig/freezer after many hours finally started to work and the red light went off. Now the frig temperature sometimes changes, right now it reads 45 F. Do I need a service call? Should the temperature setting stay where I set it? Should I have turned off the power on/off switch behind the top grill assembly?
