The Screen Went Out On My Kindle.

I noticed it was taking a long time to charge.  Just after that the screen went out.  I do have a partial screen, but a least one half of it has lines through it.  I just received it as a gift on Christmas from Phyllis Kuhl.  I also have a cover with a light.  What do I do now?  My name is Dennis Marlow, and my address is 2840 S. Whitney, Selma, IN 47383.  I don't know if it can be repaired, but if it can't, I would like a new one.
