Can The Freezer Be Turned Off Without Shutting Down The Whole Unit?
Cant the freezer be shut down without shutting down the entire unit?

It depends on the specific model of the Kenmore 5870 refrigerator you have. Some models have separate controls for the refrigerator and freezer compartments, which means you can turn off the freezer without turning off the whole unit.
