how do i remove the roof cross rails?

  Position a shop cloth around and under one of the Patriot's roof rail cleats to protect the paint finish on the vehicle's roof.
- 2
  Remove the cross railing's fastening knob. Position a 1/8-inch drill bit on the cleat, opposite the side of the rail retaining pin. Drill a shallow hole into the cleat.
- 3
  Insert a nail into the drilled hole until it strikes the retaining pin. Tap the nail with a hammer firmly but use only enough force to dislodge the retaining pin. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 on each of the three remaining Patriot roof rail cleats.
- 4
  Remove the Jeep Patriot's roof rails from the top of the vehicle once each cleat's retaining pin has been unfastened.
