The ASL Button is the Automatic Speed Limiter. I've always thought this is a strange feature to have on a car, but it's there. You can set the ASL to a certain speed and the car will not exceed the speed - basically a limiter. It works in conjunction with the Cruise Control, and when the ASL is activated, the cruise control will not work.

Strange issue with my 2007 xk - the ASL button appears to be pressed in and won't release. Every other time I start the car, the ASL is activated and the cruise control won't work. You have to restart the car to get the cruise to work, and then the next time you start it, it's back to the ASL Feature. Annoying! Probably only a $1,500 fix at the Jag dealer.

I've read that the speeding tickets in Great Britain are extremely expensive - maybe that's why they have this odd feature. I'd be surprised at how many people actually use it? Why would you? Just lay off the gas, right?
