Does it only happen at certain times? Wireless earphones are subject to radio interference. This can come from microwave ovens, computer wifi access points, cordless phones, police radio, etc. It all depends on what frequency the interference is coming in on. Also electric motors are really bad about causing interfrernce. Typically you hear a popping sound that changes in pitch with the speed of the motor. Even static electricity from your rug can cause popping sounds.
