Leak In Bottom 'screw' Of A Badger 5
I have a Badger 5 that is about 8 yrs old. On the bottom there are two "screws" that acrually look like the head of a slotted screwdriver. There are two of these and one is close to a red button that can be pushed in very slightly. One end of the "screws" is as described and the other is square or rectangular and fits into a fitted hile. I can not move the "screws" with pliers or a hammer. I used light pressure. Nothing forced.
The problem is that the 'screw" closest to the red button described above is leaking water slowly when the water is on or when the unit is running. The red button leaks very slightly.
Is this something that can be fixed in place because if I have to take it out, I might as well replace it. Or does this mean that the unit is shot?
Thank you.

most likely if you are certain there is no water on the outside of the disposal then it is coming from inside and the motor. what happened is that the seal under the flywheel also known as the grinder has gone bad or rusted. so what you need to do is remove the disposal from under the sink, disassemble it, remove the flywheel and under there is your seal. take it off. Put on a new seal. done.
