Warm starting problems are usually fuel related. When a warm engine is shut down, the temperature of the engine continues to rise for a bit as the engine undergoes "heat soak", which is where the engine isnt being cooled, and is soaking in the surrounding heat.  This can cause fuel to possibly boil in any area such as the fuel lines. When you try to restart the engine, a "vapor lock" obstructs the flow of fuel and the engine doesn't want to start.  This does not happen much on a fuel injected vehicle like your own, but if the fuel line runs near your hot exhaust manifold, and you have other ingredients to the perfect storm (driving very hard, very hot out, poor cooling, etc) then it's entirely possible.

Another scenario is that possibly your old starter is very hot after a hard drive, and the guts inside are swollen, therefore making it hard to turn your engine on.
