No Mist Coming Out

I just received a brand new Hunter 31206 humidifier; we got it because we have one already and it works beautifully. However, although we always see a nice clear column of mist coming out of the humidifier we already have, no mist is coming out of the new one at all. Did we get a lemon, or is there an easy fix for this?
