Popping Or Clicking Noise

I have two air cleaners and have had them for about 6 months. Now they are making a noise. Sounds like a popping or clicking noise. Doesn't happen all the time but enough to drive you crazy. I have changed the filters, thinking this would help. Any advise? Thank you

The clicking noise is constant and annoying. How can I make it stop other than shutting it off. I changed the filter. It didn't make the noise before I changed the filter.

That popping or crackling noise is called ionization. To some extent this is normal operation. Its how the filter cleans the air. It will likely get louder over time as dust particulates build on the intake fan and the inner crevaces of the purifier itself. The louder the crackle, the bigger the contaminant that just got zapped. I would be more worried if it never made the noise at all because ionization is just a nice way of saying electrocution which is how purifies kill bacteria and such.
