I Just Received On 10/5/11 A Hotpoint General Electric Range

Model # RA720 K4WH; Serial # RV139130R Played with the oven for 3 days-changed the Oven 'knob' all the way to the right. I set the oven knob at 350 degrees 50 minutes later, it had just hit 325 Degrees. I turned the screw and set at the highest heat, it doesn't hit the correct temperature or hold it. What a pain!

Warning: Do not try to adjust oven temp with adjusting screw!!!

Your oven temp is an average temp. For example, if set at 350, the oven heat will come on once it is preheated and come back on about 325 and then turn off about 375. This will continue to cycle in this range until it is turned off. Note the average temp between 325 and 375 is 350. Get it ! All ovens work this way, not just the Hot Point. If you adjust the tiny screw on the thermostat, you may need to get a new one and putting back in is a pain!!! That screw is set at the factory and not for later adjustment. You may never get it back to the right calibration.
