Why is my Honeywell T8775C1005 temperature flashing?

Most of Honeywell thermostat models, are "blinking" for 2 reasons:
1. Compressor protection (if the thermostat is installed in a heat pump installation).
In this case, along with the blinking (Honeywell calls it "flashing", not "blinking"), a "cool on" or "heat on" message should appear.
2. Batteries are low (you should change the batteries before the thermostat goes out).
A "Replace bat" message appears along with the flashing of the display.
