Heat Not Coming On

when we turn on thermostat to turn on thr central heating throught out the house. fan comeson shortly with no heat. why is this

When The Thermostat Stops Working Will The Unit, Ac/heat Pump, Stop Also.
The thermostat went blank and nothinf responds; the fan, ac, nor heat pump, will work.
