Right Side Temperature Setting Side Is Blank? Heat Is Off.

The right side of the thermostat reading is blank.  The heat is off and i cannot increase it because the thermostat cannot be temporarily increased.  I put 2 fresh batteries but no change.  Any suggestions?  Thanks
