There are many possible reasons why a tower fan has stopped working. Some of the above problems can also lead to that - overheating, clogged and obstructed fan turbines, etc. Another cause might be a loose power plug.
How do you take apart a Holmes fan?
Step 1 Front Cage Removal
Using a Phillips #2 Screwdriver, remove the 3 screws located on the back of the fan cage.
Next, loosen the screw located on the bottom of the fan.
The bottom screw does not need to be removed, but only loosened about 3 or 4 turns.
How do I clean my Holmes electric fan?
Many customers find vacuum cleaner brushes to be ideal fan blade cleaners. Do not allow water to drip on or enter the fan housing. Be sure to use a soft cloth moistened with a mild soap solution. Do not use any of the following as a cleaner: gasoline, thinner or benzene.
How do you fix a tower fan that stops working?
Tower fans are upwards of $40 and should not be thrown out just because they stopped working. If the red power light turns on, most likely the motor needs cleaned and lubed. Seriously, if you have a screwdriver and some WD-40 or other lubricant you can most often fix the tower fan.
