If you are planning on refilling your own cartridges then some trial and error will be required. You will need to research a refill kit that states that the ink is definitely suitable for the HP cartridge. Different manufacturers use different types of ink based on their own printing system. Maybe recycled cartridges may be a better option if costs are a criteria.
