How To Wire Pool Pump With Integral Timer And Salt Water Chlorinator?
Pool pump + salt chlorination system.I am replacing a conventional pool pump with a Hayward EcoStart variable speed pump with a built in timer. My pool has a saltwater chlorination system.In the original installation, a mechanical timer clock supplied power to both the pump and the chlorinator. In this configuration, the chlorinator was not powered unless the pump was also powered. The chlorinator's flow switch protected the chlorinator in the event that the pump was powered but for some reason did produce flow (the chlorination system will fail if it runs with no flow).In the new installation, the mechancial timer clock is not used; the pump receives "hot" 220V all of the time. How should I wire the chlorinator? If I wire the chlorinator to be "hot" all of the time, the only thing that will turn it on and off is the flow switch; if the flow switch fails, the chlorinator will roast itself.
