Is The Impeller A Right Or Left Hand Thread?

The impeller on the Hayward Power-Flo LX pump is a left-hand thread. This means that the impeller will screw into the pump housing in a counter-clockwise direction. If you try to screw it in clockwise, it will not go in.

The reason for the left-hand thread is to prevent the impeller from unscrewing itself from the pump housing if the pump is running and the water pressure is high. The counter-clockwise motion of the water will help to keep the impeller in place.

If you are replacing the impeller on your Hayward Power-Flo LX pump, be sure to use a left-hand thread impeller. You can find left-hand thread impellers for the Power-Flo LX pump at most pool supply stores.
