Goldline Aqua Rite Not Reading Salt Level Properly

I have an aqua rite salt generation system in my pool. The digital display is reading 2100 for salt in the water and when I add salt the reading does not increase significantly. It was 1800; I added 60 lbs. of salt to get to 2100. The pool store says I am at 4900 and I have no salt based chlorine in the pool. Can you give me some advice for directions to troubleshoot? Read the display - 1800 initially Added salt - went to 2100 Tool pool water to store for testing - 4900 at store Cell looks clean and not caked up. Adding Chlorine to control pool water until issue resolved.

The problem you are experiencing is the cell has failed. The way the salt generator determines the salt level in the pool is by the electrical output of The cell and the water temperature. Each plate in the cell is coated with a special mineral called Ruthenium. This mineral is released from the plates as you use the cell. The Ruthenium is what enhances the conversion of salt to chlorine. At some point the amount Ruthenium will be too low on the cell for it to work effectively. As this happens you will get a false low salt reading on the control box. This is why we always advise our customers to always have their salt level double checked by your favorite local pool company before you add salt based on the control box display.

At this point I would have the cell checked to make sure my assessment is correct.
