If water is accumulating in the tub of your Haier HWM58-020 washing machine and the machine stops working when you push the start button, there may be a few potential causes:
  1. Clogged Drain Hose: Check to see if the drain hose is clogged or kinked. A clogged hose can prevent water from draining properly, causing it to accumulate in the tub. Clean or straighten out the hose as needed.
  2. Faulty Drain Pump: The drain pump is responsible for pumping water out of the machine during the drain cycle. If the pump is faulty or not working properly, it can cause water to accumulate in the tub. Check the pump for any visible signs of damage or wear, and replace it if necessary.
  3. Faulty Lid Switch: The lid switch is a safety mechanism that prevents the machine from operating if the lid is open. If the switch is faulty or not working properly, it can cause the machine to stop working when you push the start button. Check the switch and replace it if necessary.
  4. Overloading the Machine: Overloading the machine can cause it to stop working properly. Make sure you are not overloading the machine with too much laundry.
  5. Control Board Malfunction: The control board is the brain of the washing machine and controls all of its functions. If the board is faulty or malfunctioning, it can cause the machine to stop working properly. Check the control board for any visible signs of damage or wear, and replace it if necessary.

If you are not comfortable performing these troubleshooting steps yourself, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair technician for further assistance.
