Why Won't My Google App Work?

I updated Google app and now cannot access it thru the app. It shows up for a few seconds kind of blotchy then goes away back to apps screen.

First check

The reason turned out to be very silly. I noticed the date on the phone wasn't correct.

The date was 1 month in the past. As soon as i corrected the date and time on the phone, google apps started working properly.

Second method

To fix this problem your having with your Google Play Store and other apps not working, try clearing your Google Play Services cache and/or data (see info below).

Step 3 - Clear Google Play Services cache:

Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager (this may differ depending on your device)
Scroll to All apps and then scroll down to "Google Play Services" app.
Open the app details and tap on the "Force stop" button.
Then, tap on the "Clear cache or data" button.
