How Can I Request Google To Update Their Index From Linkedin To Show Correctly?

When I originally opened a linkedin account, I indicated that I participated in a particular field. I have removed that from my profile a few months ago, but when I google my name, under linkedin, before clicking on the link, it shows the field that I have removed in addition to the new one. I was wondering what needs to be done to completely remove the first one from displaying? The response from linkedin tech support was "Most LinkedIn Public Profiles have been indexed by major search engines. We do not index files and provide that information to those companies. The removal of your information from the Internet is based on those individual search engines and how often they choose to update their information. Should you still be appearing on those sites, you may need to contact them directly for removal." How can I request google to update this information to display correctly? I would like for this to be updated as soon as possible...it has been several months already.
