Why Did They Want To Know My Gmail Contacts?

I was repeatedly sent emails to join facebook and linkedin.I was very afraid to open an account since I do not have satisfactory knowledge on Internet.Somehow, one day I was opening linkedin account.While doing this it asked me if I could allow them to get all my gmail contacts from Google.First I said no and they answered "Sorry we cannot process your request at this moment", then I was tempted and allowed them to get all my contacts from my Google account(Gmail). Now my main concern is since I allowed them to get all my Gmail contacts, Will there be any planned scam fom any one? Would this permission exposed my contacts to scam or any other negative effect? Can google cancel my previous request of allowing acces to my contacts to that account or anybody without my consent. Thank you for your great sevice Heywat Wolde-Yesus ([email protected])

No need to worry. I dont think Facebook or LinkedIn, being reputable social networking websites as they are, would scam your Google contacts.

Did you use your Google/Gmail account to register to those websites? If so, I think Facebook and LinkedIn would use your contacts so that they can automatically detect/connect you to them just in case they used the same email addresses to register with Facebook or Linked In.
