Harmony Profile Model Wpgt9360eoww

i attempted to turn washer on and screen stayee blavk but i heard touch panel click like it had turned on and the lid was open it started smoking from inside washing machine and it sounded like something was sizzling at bottem of washer so i quickly unplugged it . If touch pannel quit working why would that make it smoke what do u think oa wrong with it?
