The Audible Countdown Warning Sometimes Occurs For No Apparent Reason

On two consecutive evenings the audible countdown warning came on without our having used any panel for months. I pressed the 1 key, the first key of the code, and it stopped. It started again after a short time. I keyed in the whole code and it stopped. Different panels sounded at different times, repeatedly, and spontaneously. "SERVICE" would appear on the panel. Both evenings it finally stopped. Two days have passed without it's happening. The alarm worked when we tested it today. Any suggestions?

It's possible that your GE NX-1448E security system is experiencing a technical issue or malfunction that's causing the audible countdown warning and "SERVICE" message to appear on the panel. Here are some suggestions you could try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the system's batteries: If the batteries in the system are low or failing, it could cause the audible countdown warning and other issues. Check the battery levels and replace them if necessary.
  2. Test the system's sensors: It's possible that a faulty sensor is causing the false alarms. Test each sensor to make sure they're working correctly.
  3. Inspect the wiring: Check the wiring connecting the system's sensors to the control panel. Loose or damaged wiring can cause false alarms and other issues.
  4. Reset the system: Try resetting the system to its default settings. Consult the user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  5. Contact a professional: If the issue persists, it's best to contact a professional security system technician who can diagnose and repair the issue.

It's important to address this issue as soon as possible to ensure the system is functioning correctly and providing proper security for your home.

You may want to use the Test function, and you may want to Reset your unit. Both functions are described at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/394989/Ge-Nx-1448e-Security-Networx-48-Zone-Fixed.html?page=21#manual
