Stove Top Sporadic 'explosion'

Stove top sporadically "explodes" when turning on or off the burner.   Happens when using multiple burners.  Loud combustion noise and gas smell.   Had Sears repair out and they replaced the regulator.  After the service guy left.  The problem reoccurred.  Is my stove salvageable?
