Distance Between Top Of Range And Bottom Of Microwave

I am having trouble finding out what the required distance is in inches between the top of the range (JB700SN) and the bottom of the microwave oven ((JVM17505MSS)   When I called the 800 number the woman kept repeating that the top of the cabinet needed to be 66" from the floor (and the specs also state that information), but that doesn't answer my question about how high above the top of the range the bottom of the microwave needs to be.   I need to know how many inches we need to leave between the bottom of the microwave and the top of the range.  We're mnting the microwave above the rangetop.   Thank you! Lynda

Hello Lynda, I know that in California there is no law, or code, that governs the distance between the two. I feel reasonably certain that its the same in most other states. However, there is a recommended distance that the installer can help you with. It will simply be a matter of what you are happy with but the recommended distance the professional installer suggests is probably your best bet. But whats an inch or two going to hurt either way; except maybe that  big soup kettle wont fit ;-).  Enjoy your new appliances!
