Ice Maker Issues

Our ice maker ice keeps building up in the back of ice maker where water comes down and it freezes so bad that we have to take a hair dryer to it to melt it off.  It has even gotton so bad this time it's down the back of the freezer.  It's about a 2 1/2 year old refridgerator and it does this literally every two to three months.  It's getting really aggravating.  Is there something we can do about this or is this just a poor icemaker design? My dad worked with apppliances for over 25 years and he told us it's a very poor design but we have to live with it and since it's fairly new we don't want to have to buy a new one.  Is there anything you suggest?

You need to check the waterline that comes into the back of your refrigerator to the ice-maker. Sometimes these lines work their way loose out of the ice-maker. If the line is loose just push in back into the insert. If it has fallen completely out you will need to melt the ice in the hole to reinsert the line
