I Want To Save My Old Desktop

I have a Gateway GT5014 Media Center running XP (2005) Everything on it still works. It sat in the box for about 10 years so it doesn't have that many miles on it. I have been using it to burn CDs. I can not see letting this all go to waste. I need to know if I could turn this into somewhat of a server/computer?I was thinking new motherboard, processor, memory, possibly fan, power supply, and network card. I don't know though what I should be looking for in a motherboard? I really don't want to be stuck with a computer that is perfectly good but can't do anything with. I don't want to have to buy a new computer either.
