2010 Gmc Canyon 2wd Larger Tires???

Due to the rough all weather roads where I work I need to install larger tires that will handle this but GMC tells me that I cannot do this becuse the PCM cannot be reprogrammed.   If I do I will have issues that could void the warranty, I am not changing the 16 inch factory wheels I am just wanting to change the tire size, 1 or 2 sizes bigger!!
