Gauges

when I have the AC on and I turn off my yukon and turn it back on the gauges wont work. I start driving then they start working. It only does that when I have AC on. Is it a fuse? I took it to a mechanic and he said it was a sensor and he said he fixed it, obviously he didn't. I have no idea of whats happening and mechanic didn't know what he was doing! Sometimes I drive 20 miles before gauges start working again. Please HELP!
