Slt Automatic Transmission, Will Not Shift From Park. No Load On Tranny.

Had to drill a hole in the right side of the console to release the actuator while simultaneously depressing thumb button on the gear shift lever. Shifter cable is not spongy when moving through gears, but once in park then park will not disengage, without workaround. Now, park doesn't engage all the time, and will stay in reverse. So, I have to set e-break and use neutral
