Why Does My White Westinghouse Refrigerator Last For More Than 3 Hour To Stop?

my refrigerator continues to run for more than three hours to stop running and the fridge freezes the water in a cup underneath freezer, and if I pull the thermostat probe from its original position and put it deriectly in front of the cooled air from the freezer, it stops after not more than 3 minutes and then starts to run again after 3 minutes

Sounds like you might want the unit to be checked out for any adjustments or a faulty thermistat control. Also, with most units, it will run more often at a lower rate to help conserve energy. It will also run until the internal temperature has been satisfied, like an AC unit and thermostat setting. If the unit turned off and on, all the time, it would use more energy.
