In top mounted units the freezer actually cools the refrigerator portion by dumping cool air into it. The air comes through a hole around the cold control. If this is blocked you will not get any cool air in the refrigerator section. I would try to look for any clogs or restricted airways in the unit and then contact a professional for safety.
