Frididaire Ffec3625lb Stove Top Control Knob Wont Go Back On, It Buzzs

control knob won't go back on, when you try to push it on it buzzs  and sounds like a spark.  seems like the rod the knob goes on is now to low to put the knob on, could it have come loose, also the red indicator light comes on to show the store top is on.
