Daytime Running Lights And Dead Battery?

Went to start my 2009 Edge today (45k miles) and the battery was dead..jumped it off and noticed daytime running lights were not working..Before I start to really investigate (why did battery die).just curious if this has happened to anyone else? By the way..after I jumped my car off.I took it to an auto parts store who then tested my battery and said it was a good battery except that it needed to be fully charged.
