Is Their Any Way To Get The Code Off A 2008 Ford Taurus On Your Own

My check engine light cae on. I was wondering if I can get the code on my own?

The best course of action would be to take it to most any autoparts store (I know AutoZone and Advanced will do this). They will hook it up and let you know the source of the Check Engine Light.
