2004 Expedition-transmission

I have a 04 Expedition that sputters and jerks, the only time it drives better is when the overdrive is off. Can you please tell me the name of the solenoid that is replaced when this happens

The number 1 problem with these is the coils go bad or in this case you may have gotten water in the plug holes. Try pulling each coil and blowing out the water with compressed air. They have an individual coil for every plug on this engine. Do you have a check engine light on if so if you retrieve the code it should be a P030X misfire code the X being a number between 1 and 8 identifying the cylinder that is misfiring. #1 being the passenger side front - #4 passenger rear #5 driver front #8 driver rear. They go in order 1-4 passenger side 5-8 driver side. Sometimes it is hard to code a misfire with the Ford IDS you can enter mode 6 and see which cylinder is flagging misfires. If you have no way to retrieve a code the only other way is to buy a coil and swap it out one at a time until you get it. They cost about $100 from Ford Part # XXXXX aftermarket coils may be cheaper. It is not necessary to replace all 8 just the bad one. You should also replace that spark plug.

Thanks
