Key Stuck In The Ignition

2004 Ford Escape...Key is stuck in the ignition. I've been driving the truck for a couple weeks, so I've manipulated the shifter, key in the ignition, etc. several times but the key continues to stay firmly stuck. It feels like something is holding it in place. I have tried several of the remedies I've found online so far, but nothing has worked. WD40, pressing a spring loaded tumbler release on underside of the steering column, shifting in and out of park, wiggling the key, straightening and turning the steering wheel, whacking the key firmly with palm of hand several times (my personal favorite due to my total frustration!) Any other suggestions?
