Button Next To The Footrest, Whats It Do?

Hi I have a 2001 Escape and this morning I discovered a small button on the floor next to the footrest on the Driver side. I looked through the owners manual and could find no mention of it. I remember my dad having something similar in his Holden back in the 80s for high beam but it was much bigger. Is that what its for? Andrew Hines
