2003 Chevy Malibu Being Held Hostage At Firestone, Colorado Springs.

We took our 2003 Malibu to the 3715 Randall Dr, Colorado Springs, Colorado location on 2/06/2015. I called them later in the day to find out what the problems were with the car. They had not looked at it yet. They told me to call them Saturday, the next day and they could tell me something. I called Saturday, and they had not looked at my car yet. They told me to give them a few more days. I called them on Tuesday, 2/10/2015. They still had not looked at it except they said it was leaking radiator fluid. I already knew that. They told me NOT to call them again. They would call me once they figured something out. I told the technician DO NOT do any work until I know exactly what is wrong with it and what it will cost. I also said I might have to trade the car in if the repairs were going to be too much. Eric said it might be time for a new car. He assured me he would call me with an estimate before doing any work. I gave them my work and home phone numbers. I told him again if it was going to be expensive I might have to get rid of the car. He again said he would not do any repairs until he called me back with a complete estimate. Nobody called me for over three weeks. I drove by the Firestone shop and my car was still sitting in the same place with snow on it. I had not been moved. So I figured they did not get to it yet. I waited a couple more weeks. I was sick with pneumonia and could not get out for almost two weeks. Finally, I drove by Firestone on March 20, 2015 and went inside to talk to them. To my surprise, Eric said the car was finished and it would cost $1455.60. I told him I did not authorize the repairs and that nobody ever called me with an estimate or to let me know the status of the car. They had my phone numbers. I told him I did not have the money at that time and he got my credit card extended for an extra $474 dollars. It still was not enough so he tried to sell my 19 year old unemployed daughter who was with me a Firestone credit card. I said no. I again stated that I did not authorize the repairs and that the car should still have been under warranty for previous repairs on the cooling system that they had done less than a year ago. He ignored me and took the keys back and said when I got the money I could have my car. I again told him I did not authorize the repairs and it should be under warranty still. He said the new repairs would be warrantied for 1 year. Then he started walking away toward the garage and that was it. I have called the 1(800) 367-3872 number 6 times now and each time they promise someone will call me back in 24-48 hours. Nobody has called me back. They said they escalated this to corporate and still nobody has called me back. This is completely unacceptable. My daughter had to quit her job because she can't get to work. Nobody at Firestone will help me get this resolved. I am thinking about getting an attorney and contacting Tom Martino, a Denver radio talk show host about this. By the way, I have been a loyal Firestone customer for over 10 years and have paid off my Firestone card many times for repairs. I also feel discriminated against since I am a small white woman, a senior citizen, and a single parent. I am also a veteran. I am always very nice and always speak professionally to the Firestone technicians. But they treat me like I'm stupid and I don't know anything. They would not explain the repairs to me or what caused the car to break down in the first place. I am just appalled at the way this has been handled. We are still without the car and no one from Firestone will call me with an answer

Since Helpowl is a helpsite only with no affilation with Firestone I suggest that you contact the local tv stations helpline. I understand & sympathise with your well written complaint. 2 months is too long to not have your vehicle back in service. You may also want to consider contact the BBB & an attorney to resolve. The problem I forsee is that the call me with an estimate before they do the work is a he said she said situation. Unless you had them note that on the initiation of the service it will be a difficult case. It's sad that our society has devolved to the point that courtesy & respect rarely exist in business. It seems your loyalty to Firestone wasn't appreciated. The fair market value of the Malibu is somewhere in 3500-4000 range according to condition. If the car has been reliable I personally keep the vehicle because you at least know the cars history. Any used car you'd buy will be unknown. Best of luck!

I hope this is helpful to you!
