Fellowes 99ci Is Mashing Paper Rather Than Shredding
My Fellowes 99Ci has lasted longer for me than any of my previously owned shredders and I've been quite happy with it until late (8 years of trouble free service). Now, I find that the machine is registering "FULL" far too often (when it is clearly not full) and I have to reach under the blades to clear clumps of paper. This happens often with multiple pages. The blades are not chopping the paper, making me believe that either the blades are too dull to do their job or the blades have become too far apart, if that is possible.What are my options?

If you are competent to take the unit apart you will probably find paper jammed in there somewhere. The likely problem is with the microswitch which senses that paper has been inserted has either bent the lever arm or has broken. Verify if the unit has a continuous run option and see if it still works. If so then that is the problem. However if there are electronics involved then you would need the help of an engineer to investigate and decide if the cost warrants it.
