Make sure your system's audio is turned on. For example, in Windows XP, you should see an icon for "Volume" on the taskbar (lower right of the screen). If you see the word "Muted" when you hover your mouse over it, that's a giveaway. Click on it to change the setting. (Or you can go to your system control panel.)
