My Face Book Account Was Hacked.

My face book account was hacked and everytime I go to change my password I get a message that facebook is down and can't update my password. But then we I wait a while and try to get into facebook the new password works again they ask me to verify and change my password. How do I get out of this password circle and get in. I can close it down for a while if I need to so it will disable the hacker. Please help!!
