Email Login Not Working, Even Though I'm Getting Requests Sent To It. Cant Logi

i created a profile, edited it and got a confirmation email sent to the email login. i responded to the email, clicked on the confirmation link. it took me to the FB homepage and when i logged in with the email address, it said that email address is not associated with an account..even though i am receiving emails from FB at this email. i have cleared cookies etc..
