Every time you or a friend adds an application on Facebook, posts will appear on your home page (the news feed) when the application is used. And friends may invite you to join various applications. These posts and invitations can get very annoying, so here is how to block them next time you log into Facebook:
Instructions
  1. 1

NEWS FEED: To block posts of when friends use applications (such as Mafia Wars), put the cursor in the top right corner of the post. "Hide" will appear. Click on it and click "Hide [application name]."

  2. 2

If you have added the application, click on "Account" in the top right corner of your home page. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Application Settings."

  3. 3

Click on the drop-down menu on the top right next to "Show." Choose "Authorized" to see all applications to which you have granted access to your profile.

  4. 4

Click "Edit Settings" next to the application you want to block. A pop-up will appear. Click "Additional Permissions." Unclick "Publish to streams." [Note: some applications do not have this option.]

  5. 5

REQUESTS: On the right sidebar of your home page you will find requests, or invitations to applications. Click on one invitation to see the list. Click "Ignore" to delete the invitation. Click "Block this Application" to block all future invitations to this application from all friends. Click "Block all invites from this friend" to do exactly that to friends who are always sending you invitations.
